Experience Life on a High Country Farm
Middle Rock specialises in the group tour market. With its easy access for large tour coaches, Middle Rock is an ideal venue for international visitors wishing to experience farming life on a high country sheep farm. Tours include viewing seasonal farming activities, sheep dog mustering, sheep handling and with many of our groups, an in-depth analysis of the passion that drives a high-country farming family.
Smaller groups are welcome to enquire but are subject to scheduling availability.

- Groups supply their own transport to Middle Rock
- Tours take from 2.5 hours to 3.5 hours depending on meal options

On arrival groups are welcomed by the family. A brief history of Middle Rock is given before the guests travel out onto the property by coach. Various aspects of the farm’s operation are explained including the challenges and rewards of high country farming and the current issues NZ farmers face. A dog mustering demonstration is also included. The tour concludes with morning/afternoon teas or lunches served in the homestead or the surrounding expansive garden.
A visit to Middle Rock offers the opportunity to be guests of a New Zealand farming family in a relaxed environment amidst the stunning high country scenery of the Lake Coleridge area. Children are welcome but this tour is more suited to adults.
